Home Health Care - Nursing
These are services provided in a person's home by registered nurses (R.N.) and licensed practical nurses (LVN), and/or a variety of therapists - speech, physical and occupational. The skilled services they offer require the necessary credentials and experience.
Home health agencies typically coordinate and administer the services ordered by doctors. These include wound care, intravenous therapy and injections, as well as assessments of patients and education on the treatment of disease. Registed nurses may also provide case management services. Agencies may also offer hospice services.
These services are typically offered hourly, daily, on a 24 hour care basis, and with a live-in nurse. For more information, go to National Association for Home Care & Hospice
